An organisation built to protect communities in the AI age

Community Smart Hub was created because the people most at risk from AI-enabled harm are the least likely to have the tools to protect themselves.

Who We Are

Community Smart Hub is a UK-based non-profit Community Interest Company (CIC), currently applying for Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) status. We help people, local organisations, and communities understand AI, stay safe online, and build confidence in a world where artificial intelligence is becoming part of everyday life.

Our mission is to make AI safety, digital confidence, and technology opportunity accessible to everyone — especially those most at risk of being left behind.

Why we started

We started this work because many people are being left behind as technology changes quickly. AI can bring real benefits, but it is also being used in scams, fake content, synthetic voices, deepfakes, and online deception that can be difficult to recognise. We believe people should not have to face these risks on their own.

What we do

Our work is rooted in practical experience of artificial intelligence, online safety, digital trust, and computer vision. We turn subjects that can feel technical or intimidating — including deepfakes, synthetic identity fraud, AI-generated misinformation, digital identity, and content authenticity — into clear, practical guidance that people can use in everyday life.

We deliver awareness sessions, workshops, resources, and training that help people recognise AI-enabled harm, protect themselves online, and make more confident decisions about technology.

Where we work

We meet people where they are. Our sessions take place in libraries, schools, colleges, universities, community centres, charities, workplaces, and local organisations, so support is available in familiar and trusted spaces.

Our aim

Our aim is simple: to help communities understand AI, recognise risks, make safer choices online, and use technology in ways that are responsible, useful, and good for society.

Our Team

Community Smart Hub is led by a founding team with expertise spanning AI security research, regulatory policy, community education, and digital inclusion
